ABOUT

SHORT BIOGRAPHY:

Flavia Rossi is a photographer based between Rome and Milan. She graduated at the Architecture faculty of the University of Rome La Sapienza in 2016, with a thesis on the Aesthetics of the Landscape (thesis supervisor: Stefano Catucci). In 2017 she graduated at the Master Iuav in Photography with a final mark of 110 with honors (thesis supervisors: Stefano Graziani and Filippo Romano). In 2018 she attended the Master Libro by D.O.O.R. in cooperation with Blank Paper and was selected for the Summer School by SISF. In 2019 she was selected for the workshop Photography and Ritual: The Revealing Machine with Alfonso Borragán at ISSP in Zaļenieki, Latvia.


In 2016 she was selected for the artistic residency Manufatto in Situ 10, curated by ViaIndustriae and she did an internship at ICCD in Rome. 

In 2017 she published the photobook Così nello sfavillio di un momento, to be found in specialized bookshops in Italy. It has been presented at many photography festivals in Italy, such as Funzilla Festival, Scanner Festival, Gazebook: Sicily Photobook Festival and Bitume PhotoFest. 
She won the Aldo Nascimben Prize.
In 2018 she was one of the 30 Under 30 | Women Photographers selected by Artpil, she was shortlisted for the Athens Photo Festival and she was among the finalists of the Premio Combat Prize and the Francesco Fabbri Prize. Some of her photographs were selected for the online exhibition DER GREIF Guest Room by Lorenza Bravetta. 
Photos from Così nello sfavillio di un momento were exhibited in the solo show Una geografia personale curated by Niccolò Fano (director of Matèria) at LO.FT in Lecce. 
She was selected for the workshop The Hidden City with Stefano Graziani curated by Cloe Piccoli within Manifesta12 in Palermo, for the laboratory Eterotopia by Eterotopia in La Maddalena and for the Global Youth Culture Forum in Jeju Island (South Korea) organized by UCLG
In 2019 she was selected for the artistic residencies Premio Artivisive San Fedele Prize, in Milan, curated by the San Fedele Arte gallery and falía* Artists In Residence in Lozio, Brescia, curated by Alice Vangelisti. She was also selected for the Designathon#1 of the 26th Biennial of Design in Ljubljana, Slovenia and to be part of the ISSP International Summer School of Photography 2019 in Zaļenieki, Latvia. She was one of the artists selected for The Photo Solstice#2 in Asinara Island, a project curated by Marco Delogu.
She was shortlisted for Verzasca Foto Festival, Athens Photo Festival, ITmakES Art - Photo España.
Photos from the project Nuovo Patrimonio were exhibited in the solo show Nuovo Patrimonio. Dalla calamità all'estetica del provvisorio, curated by Niccolò Fano at Centro Studi Giorgio Muratore in Rome. 
She won the Bando Atlante, curated by MUFOCO in collaboration with Triennale and Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea (MiBACT).
She has been nominated for PLAT(T)FORM 2020 organized by Fotomuseum Winterthur and for the third edition of Gabriele Basilico Prize.
In 2021 she was nominated for the Italian Fellowship program at the American Academy in Rome.
She is represented by the photo agency Scenario.
